Creating and using slates

• Create a slate. Tap the + button in the library to add a new slate. Give it a name and an icon, then add items and headings to build it out.
• Start a list. Tap a slate to load it as your current list. Items reset to unticked so you start fresh every time.
• Add items on the fly. While working through a list, you can add extra items that aren't part of the template — they'll be there for this run only.
• Groups. Organise your slates into named groups by dragging them together in the library.

iCloud sync isn't working

Slates uses iCloud key-value storage to keep your slates in sync across devices. If sync isn't working, check the following:

• Make sure you're signed in to the same Apple ID on both devices.
• Check that iCloud is enabled for Slates in Settings → [your name] → iCloud.
• Give it a minute — key-value sync can take a moment to propagate.
• If sync is still stuck, toggling iCloud off and back on for Slates can help.

Import and export

• Export. From the library menu, export your slates as a JSON or Markdown file. The system save sheet lets you choose where it goes.
• Import. Use the import option to restore from a previously exported JSON file. This will merge with your existing slates.

Home Screen quick actions aren't showing

Long-press the Slates icon to see quick actions for your most recent slates. These are generated by iOS — if they're not appearing, try opening the app and loading a slate first, then try again. iOS may take a moment to pick up the change.

Something looks wrong

If you've spotted a bug or something isn't behaving as expected, email me with as much detail as you can — what you did, what you expected, and what happened instead. A screenshot is always helpful.
